P90X Week Three

This should actually be week four, but during week two I had a bit of a setback, so I decided to tack an extra week onto phase one before going into the phase one recovery week. I had the fallout due to very good things, though... quite happy things! It was hard to get back in from that fallout, though. I've really been pushing it this last week and a half. My energy isn't quite where it needs to be, and I've been having some bad eating days sneaking in. I should know better because the bad eating always makes me feel sick to my stomach! Bad psyknife!!! *slaps hand with ruler*
I've been doing my workouts, but I'm just not putting as much into them as I'd like. I am getting stronger, though, I can tell... I've been improving with the workouts each time I do them. Core Synergistics is still the hardest one for me. Well, that one and Yoga X (because of balance and flexibility issues). I've been rather sore this week... not quite sure why. Kenpo X is my favorite. I really like the kick-butt aspect of it.
I haven't lost any weight yet... in fact, I think I've gained a few pounds. That's probably due to some of my crappy eating, though. It could also be from muscle development, though. I feel harder... more toned. But at the same time I've been feeling fat lately. I shouldn't feel that way, though. All I need to do is go and look at my comparison shots to see how far I've come. I still want to go farther, though. I hope to be fully back on this horse soon. No more crap eating! I need more energy!!!
OK, enough of my ranting.
Cheers!

P90X Day Eight - Core Synergistics

One week completed, another week begun!
I did a little better with Core Synergistics today. My hip bruises are healing nicely. This time, thanks to advice from Mr. Briggs, I placed some blankets over my mat for extra padding. This made it much less painful to do the banana rolls and the bow to boat moves. I nailed them much better today. Still have to keep my legs high for the banana pose, though, otherwise my back isn't flat on the floor.
Those prison cell pushups and push up walks still kill me, though! Yowzers! Craziness!!!
Okay, that's it, I think :-D

P90X Day Seven - Rest

Did some stretching... recovering... took a nice, looooong walk. 'Nough said :-D

P90X Day Six - Kenpo X

This workout is great! It is great for a stress reliever... just punch and kick the frustration away! I went to town on this workout! It didn't feel like too terribly much while I was doing it, but the next day I really realized how much butt it really kicked! Booyah.

P90X Day Five - Legs and Back

I slept through my alarm in the morning, doh, so I did the workout when I got home from work. This workout is great!!! Those wallsquats are killer, though, especially the single leg ones! I don't think my legs have ever quaked so much before! It was crazy! I made it through the one minute, though. Go me!
I had to use my bands because I don't have a chin up bar, nor do I have anywhere in my apt where one can be used. Stupid cheap doorframes (or lack there of)! Right now I'm wrapping the band around some of the pipes in the ceiling in my apt. The pipes are very sturdy and seem to be doing the trick right now. Good stuff.
I then went and did Ab Ripper 200 instead of Ab Ripper X... I'm gonna move up to Ab Ripper X for phase 2. My abs are still not quite strong enough.
It felt good, though. I sweated like a madwoman and burned over 700 calories by the time it was all over!

P90X Day Four - Yoga X

Up at 4:45am to do yoga this morning. Ouch! I'm feeling it now, too. I'm uber tired! It's crazy, because I haven't slept very well lately for a couple reasons:
A.) For some odd reason I'm having circulation issues... I keep losing feeling in my limbs. I don't understand it, because it should be the exact opposite with all the exercise I'm getting!
B.) I keep thinking about what the next day's DVD will bring, and I get hyped up. Heh.

Yoga went pretty well this morning. I had to use my block because my tighest area is the whole length of the back of my legs. I was all good until warrior 3. That killed me. I think I almost fell through the tv screen at one point... haha! But still, I can't believe I made it that far before majorly fumbling! Woo! It will probably be even better next week.

Wow, okay, I'm exhausted feeling. Later!

P90X Day Three - shoulders and arms

WOW... I TORE IT UP this morning!!! I'm really proud of me. When my alarm went off this morning I didn't have any energy, but I dragged my butt out of bed. Boy am I glad I did!!! Not only did I complete the DVD with flying colors, but I also did the bonus round!!! My shoulders and arms feel great. I was also able to use the 10 pound weights for more of the exercises than I thought. Looks like I may need heavier weights soon enough.
Now, if only the bruises on my hips would heal.
Tomorrow is yoga... I'm really looking forward to it.

P90X Day Two - Cardio X

Well, I did better today than I did yesterday... I think.
I got through the yoga part of the workout okay. I still can't completely swing my leg through during yoga, but I do better. I used my yoga mat for extra traction (because otherwise my downward dog is never too great), but having the mat there makes it hard to get from runner's pose back to plank because my shoe sticks to the mat.
I was all fine and dandy until I got to wacky jacks. I got a terrible side stitch at that point and had to tone it down. Not fun. I think it's because my abs are still burning from yesterday. Then, it got to the core part of the DVD. Now, I thought I could do this, but I could't do all of it because I discovered huge bruises on my hips! I totally bruised the crap out of my hips doing all of the moves that involve rolling in Core Synergistics! They are seriuosly bruised and swollen! :-( So, I need better padding for those things. I just hope they are healed enough by next Monday so that I can give those moves another go.
So, yeah... Cardio X had a good start, a great middle (punches and kicks), and a lowsy end (stupid injury!).
Le sigh. I knew this was gonna be tough, so I just need to work through it and keep going. I just need to protect my hips for a week or so to make sure I don't hurt them anymore, but all of my muscles are still all good.

P90X Day One - Core Synergistics

Wow. So, I started my Power 90 X journey today. I decided to go with the "Lean" version of the program because I still have some more fat I want to burn before bulking up in any way. I'm sure I'll be doing more than one round of this baby.
Day one in the Lean Program = Core Synergistics
Oh my gosh that workout is intense!!! I couldn't do all of the moves all the way through. I did, however, do pretty well, I think. I was still learning today, so things were a little slower going for me. I was proud of the fact that I didn't need to be on my knees for any push-up moves (not that you can really do that with any of those anyway). The prison cell push-ups are intense! Wow! I didn't do too terribly shabby with those, though. Woo! I think I'll be pretty good on this one by the end (heck, I'd better be!).
The only moves that really gave me trouble were the banana rolls. My back is arched when I try to get into the banana position... so that's not too good. It's probably because I'm not strong enough in my core yet, but I also think that my bubble butt may be playing a role in that too. It also hurt my hip to roll over it so many times. I have large hips, so the hipbone is rather prominent. I don't think my back was totally straight when in boat position either.
But hey... this means I'm open for a lot of improvement. It supposed to be challenging, yes? If it wasn't challenging then I'd have to be already in pretty rockin' shape (and I'm not bad... but I'm not quite X worthy yet).
Cheers!
